The MCP server

CitedSEO has an MCP server, so an AI app can run our free SEO tools for you while you chat. Add this address to the app:

GEThttps://citedseo.ai/mcp

The free tools need no sign-in. They are the same ones on citedseo.ai/tools, with the same limits. If you have a CitedSEO account, you can also sign in from the app to use the tools about your own sites.

Tool What it does
audit_ai_visibility Asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode what a buyer would ask, and reports which answers name or cite a site, and who they name instead.
find_serp_vs_ai_gaps Finds the searches a site ranks for on Google where no AI answer cites it, and who is cited instead.
check_eeat Checks what a page shows of experience, expertise, authority and trust, quoting what it found.
check_heading_structure Gives a page’s headings as an outline, with what needs fixing, and looks for a keyword.
generate_llms_txt Writes an llms.txt file for a site from its sitemap and most useful pages.
find_ai_overview_keywords Finds the searches about a topic where Google shows an AI Overview, and the pages it links to.
find_question_keywords Finds the questions people search about a topic, with their monthly searches.
group_keywords_into_pages Groups a list of keywords into the pages to write, with each page’s searches and a title.
check_page_schema Checks a page’s structured data against Google’s rich result rules.
write_meta_titles Writes five title and meta description pairs for a page and its search.
get_tool_result Gives back a result that was still working, by its runId.

The free tools only read: none changes anything on your site or in CitedSEO. A result also links to its page on citedseo.ai, which shows it in full.

Once you sign in, the app can read what CitedSEO found, did and plans for your sites. Each tool takes the site’s domain, and each answer links to where you act on it in CitedSEO.

Tool What it does
get_profile Says who you’re signed in as.
list_sites Lists the sites you can see in CitedSEO, with each one’s id and domain.
site_overview How a site is doing, as Home shows it: Google clicks, what’s waiting for your OK, anything only you can fix, AI citations and what shipped this month.
list_opportunities The fixes CitedSEO found, best first, with why, the plan and its estimated gain.
get_opportunity One fix in full, with the evidence it was found from.
list_articles The site’s articles, where each one is and its Google numbers once live.
get_article One article’s search snippet and text as Markdown.
search_performance Google clicks and impressions, top searches and pages, and pages rising or slipping.
ai_visibility Whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI cite the site for its tracked questions, and who they recommend instead.
keywords The searches CitedSEO tracks, how winnable each is and whether a page covers it.
shipped What CitedSEO put live, and how each change is doing since.
report The site’s report for any dates, with its share link once you have made one in the app.
site_feed The site’s feed address and webhook events, for your site’s own code.

If you allowed it to act for you when you signed in, the app can do what CitedSEO’s buttons do. Each action goes through the same checks as in CitedSEO, and each answer says how to take it back.

Tool What it does
act_on_opportunity Approves, skips, holds or moves to the front one fix in your queue. A skip can’t be taken back.
approve_article Approves the version of an article you read, so it ships at the next daily slot.
hold_article Keeps an article waiting for your OK.
publish_article Publishes an article’s version now, or at a time you pick.
change_article Asks for a change to an article in your words.
write_article Writes a new article for a keyword group.
undo Takes back one change, or everything one shipped change put live.
set_autopilot Turns autopilot’s switches on or off.
research_keywords Looks for searches from seed words, questions or a competitor on your list.
check_command, check_research Say how an action or a search ended.

Your Shipped history says which changes were approved or undone from an AI app, by its name.

The app can also offer three prompts to start from: a weekly review, what’s waiting for your OK, and an AI visibility check. Each person can make 120 of these calls a minute.

When you use a tool that needs your account, the app asks you to sign in to CitedSEO, the same way you do on app.citedseo.ai, then shows what it is asking to do:

  • See your sites’ numbers, queue and articles (citedseo:read).
  • Approve, skip, publish and undo changes for you (citedseo:act).

It sees only the sites you can see in CitedSEO. To take its access back, choose Disconnect beside it in Settings › MCP. It then has to ask you again.

Each person signed in, or each network address for everyone else, gets 20 runs an hour and 60 a day, and one site can be checked 30 times a day, as on the website. Claude Code, Cursor and other apps on your computer call from your own address. ChatGPT and Claude on the web call from their own servers, so people who haven’t signed in share an allowance, and a tool may say to try again later.
